All user pictures have a 100 pixel by 100 pixel image-size limit, and a 40 kb file-size limit. If your image exceeds either of those limits, LiveJournal will not upload the picture.

Also, one of the more common problems that occur when people try to upload a picture, is that the picture itself is of a bitmap format (BMP), but has been renamed to .GIF or .JPG format. You can try renaming the picture with a proper file extension, or you can contact one of the volunteers from the userpics community, to see if they can help you. ( )
